WELCOME TO THE CAVE CRITTER HOME PAGE
It's an urban legend at the Chapel Hill 6th. Grade Academy (formerly Chapel Hill Elementary) that the school was built on top of a large cave back in the early 1900's. The cave is so deep underground and so vast (the whole cave system is estimated at 20-30 miles - the largest cave system in the world is Mammoth Cave in Kentucky which sprawls nearly 350 miles!) that it was considered too dangerous to be accessible to the public when it was discovered by amateur spelunkers (cave explorers) during the early 1940's. It was sealed off completely - at least they thought it was completely. Some tunnels in the cave go all the way down Chapel Hill Road to the high school. It seems that, every so often (especially late at night or early in the morning), some unexplained phenomena occur within the school buildings - things like missing candy and donuts from teachers who taught in the room nicknamed the "Cave" in the Chapel Hill Caverns part of the building. Many believe that there is some sort of critter - no one knows exactly what it is - that works its way up through an opening out of the cave into the school where it likes to scrounge for food. It could be a squirrel, a raccoon, a fox, or some other creature never before seen. Some people believe in the legend and some don't. I do.
You may need to have a high speed internet connection to hear Cave Critter Jitters song and Vampire Bat Rap on the pages with the Audio Rock. (if you don't, it make take a while to download)
